Mapping

The Florian representative will collect resource information from the Status Check-In and the assign a GPS tracker to the resource.  As the resources get assigned to a division of the incident, the Florian representative will enter the unit identifier, contact information and assigned division into the mapping software.   

The finalized IAP may also be used to enter and/or update tracking information.

A Florian representative will make contact with the Plans Section Chief, appointed representative or Status Check-In.  The Florian representative will collect resource information, assign a GPS tracker to the resource and then enter the resource information into the mapping software.   

Yes.  When the incident is closed or when Florian services are finished, a file of all tracked resources will be exported and provided to the overhead team.  

This can be used to recreate the travel history of all resources.

A geofence is a virtual fence or a perimeter on a map placed around a specific object or area. When a trackable object enters or leaves this area, an alert is triggered. The alert is a notification on the mapping interface and a text and/or email to a person or group. Easy way to think about it a fence around your home. When someone enters your yard, the burglar alarm is activated and an alarm is sent to the security company.

Yes, like resources can be grouped into resource categories.  See the example on the operational map view.   Subgroups can also be created under each parent group.

A Florian representative will create multiple shared map views for each section.  Operations will only see resources assigned to them and same for Facilities.  The map views can be password protected or made public.

Yes, map views can be shared via email, text link or posted in the Incident Action Plan.  Shared map views can be password protected or made public.

Yes, device alerts (low battery, geofence activation, device turned off, movement alert, etc.) are displayed on the map.  An example is shown here.  Notifications can also be made to a contact person(s) via text or email.

Yes, the mapping software supports the addition of custom map layers.  The following common file types are supported:

  • Keyhole Markup Language (KML)
  • GPS Exchange Format (GPX)
  • Web Map Service (WMS)

Contact information of a person(s) identified by the overhead staff will be entered into the software.  They will be notified via text, email or both of any alerts for resources they manage.

Yes, all resources will have a tracking history available on the map.  In addition to the live view, the following historical views are available:

  • 1 Hour
  • 24 Hour
  • 7 Day
  • 1 Month
  • Custom Date Range

The Spatial Reference System used by Florian is WGS84 – World Geodetic System 1984.

Devices

The Trace tracker is primarily used for mobile resources.  The device updates its location every 2.5 minutes or when moving after being stationary.

The SmartOne C is primarily used for stationary resources (portable pumps, generators, Porta-Potties, etc.) and updates every 8 hours.

A “Powered Off” notification is sent to a Florian representative and an assigned contact person.

IP67 waterproof: Up to a depth of 1 m for up to 30 minutes.

Operating temperatures: -22 F to 140 F

• If you exceed 700 mph (Mach 1) GPS accuracy degrades.

An alert is triggered and a low battery alert is displayed on the mapping software.  A low battery alert text/email notification is also sent to a Florian representative and an overhead contact person.
